A man has been arrested after three police officers were injured and patrol cars damaged in Folkestone.

Police were following a red Ford Ka that had first been spotted in Folkestone Road, Dover, at 3.40pm yesterday.

Officers followed the car into Folkestone town centre before stopping it in Park Farm Road at about 3.50pm.

Kent Police said three police officers suffered whiplash injuries and three patrol vehicles were damaged as the car was made to stop.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while unfit and assaulting police officers.

He is in custody at Folkestone police station.

Park Farm Road had to be closed for several hours while investigations were carried out and for the vehicles to be removed.
