Inquest opens into death in Brazil of Tenterden mother Gillian Metcalf
Gillian Metcalf, who was tragically killed in a boat crash
An inquest opened yesterday into the death of a woman after a boating tragedy in Brazil.
Gillian Metcalf died after the tragedy on the Rio Negro near the port of Ceasa in the north of the country.
Coroners officer Adam Trewerne said that a post mortem examination had been carried out in Brazil with the resulting report and death certificate now received with English translations.
Details are expected to be revealed at the eventual closing of the inquest.
Mrs Metcalf, 50, of Plummer Lane, Tenterden, died in the accident on September 5.
The inquest was opened at Folkestone Magistrates Court and was adjourned by Rachel Redman, Central and South East Kent Coroner, for a date to be fixed.
It was already reported that Mrs Metcalf had- been killed after the boat she was travelling in with her husband Charlie and two daughter, Natasha, 19, and Alice, 18, was struck by another vessel.
It had happened during a family holiday.
