Ashford Town manager Steve Lovell insists player departures won't affect his squad

Ashford boss Steve Lovell, pictured, will
assess what he has left of his squad on Saturday when his players
return to pre-season training.
Five of last season's squad have moved on after Lovell’s
deadline passed for his players to decide whether to stay or
go.
He will use pre-season to put
together a squad capable of making a challenge in Ryman League,
Division 1 South next season.
Departing Homelands are Danny
Brathwaite, Elliott Brathwaite, Jimmy Bottle and Craig Wilkins
while keeper Josh Willis will be joining Kingstonian for pre-season
training.
Lovell has still managed to keep
hold of much of last season’s team and he doesn’t envisage having
problems finding replacements.
He said: "We’ve had six or seven
boys who have given us a decision that they are staying with us and
one or two who are still undecided. We’ve got the nucleus of a team
and we’ll start back with 10 trialists coming in.
"I’m going to use the pre-season to
get a decent squad together ready for the start of the season on
August 15 and I’m not going to rush into anything."
Lovell added: "I knew we would lose
one or two and we can now build a team around those who are staying
and they are the most important people as they want to be part of
the club.
"We’ll be judging players on an
individual basis and I’m not interested in where they’ve been or
what they’ve done in the past. I’m only interested I what they can
do for us now."
