Hythe Town boss Scott Porter looking for response after midweek loss to Ramsgate

by Andrew Gidley
Scott Porter labelled Hythe
Town’s Ryman League Division 1 South 2-0 home defeat against
Ramsgate as his team’s worst performance of the season.
A victory would have put them in
pole position and Porter admits home form is beginning to cause
concern, after taking only one point out of nine at
Reachfields.
Porter said: "There was nothing
there, we played as individuals not as a team, and I stood there
embarrassed at times to say they were my players, and that’s being
quite kind. We had no quality, no work-rate and no effort.
"We would have gone top had we won,
and if we can’t get up for that, then something’s not quite right.
All 14 players had a bad game, because the three substitutes didn’t
do anything either."
He added: "We looked so good at
Merstham last Saturday, but the defeat on Tuesday night took all
the edge of it, and I honestly can’t get my head around the reasons
why."
Porter, who starts a four-match
touchline ban at the weekend, is demanding an immediate improvement
in Saturday’s performance at Eastbourne Town.
The Sussex side are in the lower
reaches of the table and Porter said: "We are better on the road,
and that’s why where we are in the table. I have had a good
chat with the boys and will be looking for a response."
Hythe travel to Ryman League Division 1 North side Thamesmead
next Tuesday in their re-arranged Kent Senior Cup tie, postponed
last week.
