Scott Porter eager for Hythe Town end their poor start to 2013

by Andrew Gidley
Scott Porter heads for
Chipstead on Saturday desperate to end his worst spell in charge at
Hythe Town.
Three successive defeats leaves
them still looking for their first Ryman League Division 1 South
point in 2013, and the Reachfields boss is finding it hard to
take.
He said: "Losing one game is bad
enough but this run has got a different feel about it. We have been
playing alright though and creating chances but giving them away at
the other end."
Hythe have conceded 13 goals in
their four games – including the 3-0 Kent Senior Cup defeat at
Thamesmead – since their last win in the Boxing Day derby against
Folkestone and the poor run has led to Porter bringing former
favourite Michael Yianni back to the club from Kent rivals
Ramsgate.
The 28-year-old was a winger in his
younger days but has re-invented himself as a full-back after
recovering from two injury-hit seasons.
Porter said: "I have had it in mind
to do for a little while. I have known him for a long time, as both
a team-mate and manager and know his
abilities.
"He has got a lot of pace, knows
this level well, brings an extra bit of quality and experience to
the back four and is a good signing.
Hythe travel to Burgess Hill on
Tuesday (7.45pm).
