A teenager had £200 cash stolen from her rucksack after being mugged in Canterbury.

The 17-year-old girl was walking along Babs Oak Hill in Sturry, Canterbury, on the afternoon of Thursday, December 13, when she noticed someone following her.

The man grabbed her rucksack and pulled it from her shoulders.

She was able to keep hold of it but her attacker unzipped the outer pocket and took £200 in cash.

He then ran off back in the direction of the A28.

The victim says she first saw the man at a bus stop in Babs Oak Hill, on the side of the road on which traffic travels from Thanet to Canterbury.

He is described as black, around 30-years-old, really tall and of large build. He was wearing a baseball cap with blue and white trim, a baseball jacket and jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact PC Kelly Boyd by calling 101 and quoting crime reference ZY/35449/12.

Alternatively, you can contact Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
