Horsham YMCA 1 Whitstable Town 0

Former Deal striker Stuart Vahid who is set for a move to Whitstable

Whitstable Town remain rooted to the foot of Ryman League Division 1 South after a 1-0 defeat at fellow-strugglers Horsham YMCA on Saturday afternoon.

Dan Dalton saw an early shot saved but Tom Lawley opened the scoring on 19 minutes when he burst between two defenders and fired home.

The Oystermen went close through Stuart Vahid, pictured, but his tame shot went narrowly wide and Lawley almost doubled the lead at the other end before Kevin Fewell denied Mike Huckett.

The home side saw Tony Timms sent off for a second yellow with 15 minutes remaining and as Town pressed forward, Dan Wisker missed a great chance to equalise in the dying moments.
