Canterbury Rugby Club finish home games with a flourish

Max Cantwell powers forward CS Rugby 1863
National League 3 London & South East champions Canterbury
rounded off their home games in style with a 48-5 win over CS Rugby
1863.
An second-minute try from the visitors was not what a
season's-best crowd wanted to see, but Canterbury overcame a
stuttering start - including the sin-binning for prop Jim Green -
to hit back with Martyn Beaumont's penalty and a 21st-minute try
from Ricky Mackintosh. Beaumont added the extras for a five-point
half-time lead.
Canterbury upped the tempo at the start of the second half as
centres Juan Del Val and Paul Brown opened the way for Tom Best to
score, with Beaumont converting.
Two tries in two minutes strengthened Canterbury's grip on the
game. Flanker Max Cantwell scored an individual touchdown and, from
the restart, Wim Baars powered through a huge gap and found Peter
Kelly who did the rest.
A second yellow card, this time for Mackintosh, failed stop the
hosts adding 19 points late on. Dave Marshall, Beaumont, who kicked
five conversions in all, and Mackintosh, back from the sidelines,
all went over for a seven-try win.
