Gravesend RFC finish off National League 3 London & South East season with a defeat to London Irish Amateur

Gravesend finished their National League 3 London & South
East campaign in disappointing style when they were beaten 36-21 at
London Irish Amateur on Saturday.
Having narrowly lost the previous week to relegated Bracknell,
Gravesend also picked up a number of injuries that forced changes
for the last game of the season at Sudbury.
This was compounded after just six minutes - Gary Gray limped
off which forced a reshuffle of the back line that brought Dave
Dorton up to fly-half, Sam Hall to full-back and Jamie Harris on to
the wing.
LIA opened the scoring with an unconverted try in the 18th
minute and then scored a further 17 points in the next 10 minutes -
two convetrted tries and a penalty giving the hosts a 22-0
advantage.
Gravesend responded before half-time when Jamie Forsyth drove
over and Dorton added the extras for a 22-7 scoreline at the
interval.
After the break Gravesend pulled back another seven points when
Jon Clement went over and Dorton again converted.
On 65 minutes LIA scored a try from a move involving both pack
and backs, with the conversion added to stretch their lead to
29-14.
Tempers started to fray and Dave Irvine was shown a red card and
a home player a yellow. The sides then traded converted tries,
Gravesend's coming from Tony Nolan, to finish off the scoring.
