Faversham Town boss Ray Turner ready to put his faith in teenage striker Kieran Oliver

Faversham Town boss Ray Turner has backed young striker Kieran Oliver to fill the boots of Renford Tenyue who will miss the festive programme.

Former Canterbury forward Tenyue bagged a hat-trick in the 7-0 home win against Walton Casuals on Saturday to give Lilywhites fans a glimpse of what they’ll be missing during a three-week absence due to personal commitments, which begins at Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.

Turner (pictured) admitted: "We saw the performance out of Renford that we’ve been waiting for, it’s just a shame we are now without him for a few weeks."

Under-18 striker Oliver, who scored twice for Town in their League Cup win over Cray in October, repeated the trick after coming off the bench against Walton and could start at Corinthian.

Turner said: "With young players you have to give them time and use patience. We haven’t thrown him straight in, we have taken our time and bedded him in slowly but now it is the right time to get him involved.

"He has no fear. He is pacey and he has got a good eye for goal. He is calm and makes good decisions in front of goal. He’ll be part of the first-team squad from now on."
