Jen Wilson hopes to play important role for EuroCanterbury Ladies

Jen Wilson is looking forward to playing a bigger part in
the second half of EuroCanterbury Ladies' Investec Women's Premier
Division season, which begins with a trip to Clifton on Saturday
(11.30am).
The South African international (pictured) has been
recovering from a serious back injury suffered while on
international duty in the Champions Challenge in Ireland in June,
but tested her fitness with a couple of matches before the winter
break in early December.
Wilson, who combines her playing duties at Polo Farm with
coaching Ashford men's first XI and teaching hockey at King's
School in the city, said: "I had a prolapsed disc which split open
and caused me to lose all sensation and mobility in my left leg for
three months.
"I went to a South African training camp in Johannesburg in
December and January, and did 80 or 90 per cent of what I had to. I
feel almost back to full fitness, and it's very pleasing to be able
to now contribute more."
Canterbury are third, two places and four points higher than the
Bristol side, who they beat 2-1 at Polo Farm in October.
