Canterbury RFC may strengthen squad before transfer deadline

Canterbury RFC could include a number of new signings in their
squad when they return to action next weekend.
The city club are without a league fixture on Saturday as
several of their rivals play games in hand.
Head coach Andy Pratt (pictured) is now turning his thoughts to
a run of three games against Shelford, Henley and Redruth, who all
occupy top-five spots in National 2 South.
He said: "It will be challenging but we will have had a rest and
we go into the games with confidence.
"There’s a couple of guys we’re looking at but if nothing
happens it won’t be a disaster. We’ve got a good enough squad to
see us through."
Any deals would have to be done before next Friday’s transfer
deadline. By the time Canterbury travel to Shelford on March 2,
they should be able to call on the services of Peter Kelly and Wim
Baars, who both missed Saturday’s 41-12 win over Dings
Skipper Kelly is nursing a back injury, while Dutch No.8 Baars
has been away in New Zealand.
Canterbury will stay eighth irrespective of this weekend’s
