Whitstable Town manager Nicky Southall says players have lost trust in one another after big defeats

Nicky Southall believes his Whitstable players have lost trust in each other after crashing to a second big defeat in the space of eight days.

Saturday’s 5-0 reverse at home to Leatherhead came a week after the Oystermen were trounced 5-1 by lowly Corinthian Casuals.

It left Town in genuine relegation trouble and the Whitstable manager (pictured) knows time is running out to turn their season around.

He said: "The players need to trust each other in the dressing room and a few of them have lost that trust.

"Players will be going and players will be coming in. I want to put my stamp on the team but I can’t do that yet because I’m picking up the pieces of what’s gone on before.

"I want to bring in my players but what player wants to go to a club fighting a relegation battle?

"It’s not about good players now, it’s about showing steel, mettle, bottle and a bit of courage to play in those type of games. We’ve got to come out fighting and prove a lot of people wrong."

On Saturday, the Oystermen make the short trip to face high-flying Faversham Town.

Do you think the Oystermen can recover from their funk against Faversham? Have your say below.
