Fog at Kingsferry Bridge on the Isle of Sheppey today

Fog at Kingsferry Bridge on the Isle of Sheppey today

A weather warning has been in place for parts of Kent today because of fog and icy roads.

The Met Office said the south and west of the county were likely to be worst affected by poor road conditions today.

After temperatures dropped to -5C last overnight, there have been several accidents on the county's roads this morning.

Icy conditions caused hazardous driving conditions and closed the A256 southbound in Sandwich between the A258 and A2 during the morning rush-hour.

Several accidents had been reported by about 9.30am.

Forecasters issued a weather warning this morning for an area stretching from New Romney, Cranbrook and Tunbridge Wells.
