Armed police search train at Ashford station for 'passengers with gun'

Armed police have been at Ashford station this afternoon
following reports of train passengers with a gun.
The officers were scrambled to search a train from Ramsgate to
London at just after 4pm.
But neither the suspects or weapons were found and a
manhunt continues this evening.
The alarm was raised when police were told people on the train
had a firearm and ammunition.
British Transport Police said its officers were joined by an
armed response team from Kent Police.
A BTP spokesman said: "Following a full search of the train, no
suspects were found.
"Inquiries continue to locate the persons, including use of the
CCTV system within the station."
The train was the 3.40pm Ramsgate to London Charing Cross
service.
Commuters reported seeing armed police at the station and delays
to services.
Anyone with information is asked to phone British Transport
Police on 0800 40 50 40.
