Huge rush hour delays after lorry overturns on Wainscott bypass
Comments |

An overturned lorry on a roundabout on the Wainscott bypass
caused serious delays for motorists on Tuesday afternoon and
evening.
The accident happened on the A228/A289 roundabout at the bottom
of Four Elms Hill at around 2.25pm.
A small fire broke out close to the stricken vehicle after some
diesel spilled onto the road. The HGV was thought to be blocking
the exit leading to Hoo Road and Hollywood Lane.
The driver managed to get himself out of the lorry without
serious injury.
The crash caused major tailbacks in the area, which were made
worse by a second accident nearby.
A man in his 20s was airlifted to hospital after being struck by
a van in Handcock Close, Frindsbury at around 1.35pm. He is not
thought to be in a critical condition.
