School pupils tested for swine flu

Pupils at a Gravesham primary school have been tested for swine flu.

Six youngsters from Meopham Community Primary School have been tested for the virus.

At the start of the week, seven pupils from year six were off with flu-like symptoms following a school trip to Surrey.

Two of the pupils have tested negative, with the other results still to be returned.

All but one of the children have since returned to school, with the seventh still off as a precaution.

The school, in Longfield Road, Meopham, has advised all other pupils to come in as normal unless they feel unwell. While parents have been contacted to advise them of the ongoing situation.

There are now 78 confirmed cases of the virus in Kent.

Anyone developing flu like symptoms should stay at home and call their GP, NHS Direct on 0845 4647, or Swine Flu information line on 0800 1513 513.
