One of the worst beaches in Britain?
An east Kent beach has been named the second
least favourite in the country.
The beach in Dover Harbour came behind
Blackpool's, which is the least popular.
It is part of a study which found two thirds
of us would prefer to holiday abroad because we think beaches are
cleaner overseas.
Environmentalist Alexandra Cousteau says
holidaymakers don't expect the earth.
The beaches of Cornwall (32%) topped the list
of beaches Brits would most like to visit, followed by Devon,
Bournemouth, and then Brighton
Nearly a third of Brits have stopped
visiting Northumberland, Cleveland and Durham beaches because they
are dirty.
- The news is the second blow for Dover in a matter of weeks.
Last month the Lonely Planet Guide described the town as a
'rundown town with a depressing air of decay'. But are the
