BUSINESS FROM CREATIVE
INDUSTRIES (sponsored by Kent Film Office)
Courtyard Studios,
Hollingbourne
This small film studio focuses on punching
above its weight.
It has a wide portfolio of services and is a
great example of the wealth of creative and media talent in the
county.
The business, set up in 1988, has grown
steadily and has been doing well despite the downturn. It is now
embarking on a period of expansion, taking on more staff and
developing the production side of the business.
Courtyard Studios offers a one-stop shop for
clients’ film needs, providing an equipment rental service to
support the industry.
It works closely with Maidstone Studios, Kent
County Council and Kent’s award-winning production company Medb
Films
Two well-equipped studios offer an ideal
environment for film, video and television production. Apache
lighting and camera hire, including HD, photography and training,
are available.
As part of its production service, it provides
camera operators and lighting crews for studio projects and on
location.
As a production company, it financed the
feature film “The Calling” which is premiered at the Edinburgh Film
Festival.
Courtyard Studios also worked on a special
film project “Austism in the Frame” with Medb Films, encouraging
autistic children to develop creative and personal skills through
involvement in a series of short film projects.
It also provides discount equipment rental to
students completing their final year projects.
Partner Paul Dixon is a leading light in the
industry. He is a member of the KCC Film and Television Board and
is involved in the county’s plans to develop the industry in
Kent.
