Combined force - how our servicemen ruled land, sea and air

The Red Arrows will be the star attraction at this year's Margate's Big Eventby Alan Watkins

The red, white and blue colours that have become the Red Arrows' trademark brought an extraordinary day to a conclusion.
The flypast was the climax of two hours of action and spectacle on the River Medway, as part of Armed Forces Day, that showed the armed services expertise.
The veterans looked skywards at the beginning of the show when an Avro Lancaster, flanked by a Spitfire and a Hurricane, opened the show with three flypasts.
Later HMs Cattestock upheld the royal Navy tradition of seeing off all boarders when a force of Royal Marines, masquerading as terrorists, attacked the ship.
It was an opportunity for the RAF and Naval helicopters to share in the action.

    Armed Forces Day

I felt that it was a day that everyone should respect and learn from, how the veterans done so much for this country, not just the english, but every soldier in the commenwealth.

I felt that the air displays were poor, there could have been more effort put into organising it better, and the general arrangement of site facilities was poor.

What a glorious day ! Thanks to all who took part to make the day what it was. Thanks to all the forces, veterans and serving, or cadet.
My only grumble... neither meridian TV nor BBC showed anything of the wonderful day on their respective evening news.

Armed Forces Day - Poorly thought out

Given that a very large number of visitors would be elderly or disabled there was little thought put in to accomodating them. The disabled car park was full by 10:20am. Very little seating except on grass and walls. Lots of wheel chair unfriendly surfaces i.e. gravel, rough ground, cinders etc. However all those taking part put on a splendid show.

I thought there would have been more pictures of the veterans from the armed forces day celebrations on Saturday. If it hadn't been for the veterans we may not have been celebrating today. I am very proud of our forces both past & present and would have liked to been offered a comemorative copy paper or dvd.
