Undergound houses in Folkestone's West End for sale

Celebrities looking for total privacy might be among those tempted by four new properties on the market.

There would be no-one peeping over the garden fence and no-one sneaking a peek through the window. That's because the homes in Folkestone's West End are underground and and few would even know they were there.

The homes are for sale from £295,000 for the smallest unit to £320,000 for the largest.

Reporter Jane Barlow went along to take a look.

  • Overground as well?

I think your story is a little bit misleading. I am an architect and I believe there are parts of these properties, from the pictures, that actually appear to be overground. In my opinion I think it would be clearer to say 'part-underground' as the upper section of the structure is clearly visible and would not fit the technical definition of underground. Perhaps you could also accurately call them 'basement' properties. thanks Juan Architecture student living in Canterbury (but from Cadiz, Spain).
