Man rescued after neighbour spots fire in his Herne Bay home

A terrified neighbour raised the alarm when a fire broke out in a Herne Bay house as a man slept inside.

The Central Parade resident called Kent Fire and Rescue (KFRS) at around 3.45am Sunday, after she heard a smoke alarm sounding at the property next door and saw smoke through the letterbox.

Firefighters from Herne Bay rescued a 35-year-old occupant who was not thought to be badly injured.

A KFRS spokesperson said the blaze was caused by food left on a hob which then caught fire.
