Defendant Paul Smith accused of attempted murder at Alkham Valley

Maidstone crown courtA man accused of attempted murder after a shooting incident in the Alkham Valley, near Dover, made a brief appearance at Maidstone Crown Court today.

Paul Smith, 45, of Friars Way, Dover, is alleged to have tried to kill James Saunders on October 26 in a village play area in Alkham Valley Road.

Mr Saunders, 31, from Folkestone, was treated for a stomach injury.

Smith, also known as Andrew Bywater, was remanded in custody until January 25, when he is due to enter a plea to the charge.
