Cooking up a treat - chef Rob Kirby collects excellence awards

Video: Chef Rob Kirby demonstrates his cooking skills

From serving Princess Diana, Princess of Wales to wading through muddy fields inspecting Kentish lamb, Kent chef Rob Kirby has seen a lot in his career.

A Masterchef of Great Britain, committee member of the Academy of Arts and catering Chef of the Year in 2003, he has come a long way for a lad who started out as a greengrocer's shop boy at the age of 14.

Now the chef director of leading contract caterer Lexington Catering, Rob, who lives in Greenhithe, took some time out of his busy schedule to speak to Focus magazine, before he cooked for punters at John Lewis Foodhall by Waitrose in Bluewater shopping centre.

Watch our video above and read the full exclusive interview with Rob in your monthly Focus magazine inside this week's Kent Messenger, Medway Messenger, Kentish Express and Kentish Gazette.
