Dartford crossing and Channel rail link in Government asset sell-off

Dartford CrossingThe Dartford Crossing and the Channel Tunnel rail link are expected to be in a government hitlist of assets to be sold off.

Gordon Brown will announce plans to raise £16billion by selling off a raft of assets.

Initial sales are expected to include the Channel Tunnel rail link, Tote bookmakers and the Dartford crossing.

The Prime Minister will say the measure is an alternative to cuts proposed by the Tories.

This is worde thsn family silver
firsdt because these are revenue-generating assets so selling them off means less revenue in future and second because the Channel Tunnel would undoubtedly be bought by the French, thus ensuring that they could cut off perfidious Albion at any time they like.

    Sell-Offs

The words "Family" and "Silver" spring to mind. How many years down the line before we feel the effects of this knee-jerk reaction. Of course, Mr Brown won't be around by then and we'll have forgotten his involvement. No doubt he'll be sitting comfortably in the Lords!

    Sell offs

Its time that we started taking direct action to stop the lunacy of tolls on the Dartford Crossing. If Brown sells it off then it will always be a toll crossing and prices will only go up.
As to selling the rail link what a stupid idea. Surely we need to control it to help meet our carbon reduction
