Question: Do these figures include those people on jobcentre 'schemes' like newdeal?
This scheme is an option encouraged by the jobcentre, whereby the unemployed are allowed to work, but are not being paid by the workplacement but being paid the same amount of benefits by the government. Apart from gaining work experience, there is nothing really gained from the scheme, as there is no chance of employment when the contract is up. How can this help the unemployed get back into work? Does playing about with unemployment figures help the big wigs in Government feel better about the current situation?
