Could Kent be hit by snow again?

A view from Chatham Hill

Forecasters have warned the big freeze could make a comeback in Kent next week.

Freezing temperatures are expected to hit the county as a chilly northerly wind blows in from the Arctic.

Several areas of Kent are still covered in snow that hasn't melted since last week's downfall.

County weatherman Shaun Maltby, who runs weather website
kent-weather.co.uk, said: "Around the 16th and 17th a really strong wind will blow over.

"Even though it's too early to predict snow it will be very, very cold at least."

Great joy! My boiler is broken and we have been without heating for 3 weeks already. Not sure if I can cope with another load of snow. A chilly Christmas for me and the kids.

I live in Dartford on a main road, and although this was gritted when we had a frost, it was not gritted when we had the heavy snowfall.
The reason KCC gave was there was a lot of congestion and an accident in West Kent. But we had three days of snow, what prevented them coming along the second day when everyone had stayed home.
My biggest argument is over the Treacherous Icy Pavements.
I belive that every resident should be made to clear the snow from the front of their properties, not just the entrance to their drive.
If everyone did this, the snow would not become compacted and icy. Very dangerous for our Postie, who although having chains under his shoes, still fell over a few times.
People will not be sued by clearing the snow from the pavements if they do it properly. I think they should be sued for not doing it myself.

Where were Gravesham Council gritting last time we had snow? The residents of Gravesend were completely let down with the 'no help' attitude of the council.
I was shocked and appalled that our council abandoned us and many main roads were complete ice rinks to drive on.
Singlewell Road at one point was under 5inches of solid ice, I contacted Kent Highways to help clear the road but they just answered me with excuses and in the end admitted that they were not attempting to clear the road or even grit it.
Wrotham Road was the same, although I did see a Highways Agency lorry cleaning the road signs! You could barely drive along this road but by God! You could read the signs, what an utter waste of time and money.
    Shame on you!

Great, what an ideal opportunity for South eastern to have their other De icing train serviced and cause widespread misery to rail passengers.
