A 38-year-old man has been taken to hospital after a scuffle
outside a pub led to him suffering stab wounds.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which
happened around the junction of the High Street and Ferry
Lane at Wouldham, near Rochester at around 8.30pm Friday.
Several men were involved in a scuffle, which left one of them
with stab wounds. The victim is described as in a stable
condition in hospital.
Police arrested three men who have been questioned about what
happened. They were later released on police bail.
Michael Osborne, the owner of the Forresters Arms pub, said his
customers came to the rescue of the victim by calling an ambulance
and trying to comfort the man, who had staggered into the pub,
after the scuffle.
"We could see that he had around four stab marks on him," he
said. One of my customers called an ambulance, while my staff sat
with him to check he was okay."
Police cordoned off the high street while they investigated the
incident. It re-opened on Saturday morning.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on
