Policewoman injured in Swanley attack

Kent Police

A policewoman was left unconscious after being attacked by two people when she stopped a van which had its rear number plate missing.

PC Fran Croucher was on patrol in Crockenhill Road, near Swanley, when the attack happened at around 8.30pm Thursday.

Two people got out of the blue Transit van and punched and kicked PC Croucher before driving off in the direction of Bromley.

When other patrols arrived PC Croucher was unconscious on the ground. She was taken to hospital but later discharged.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

    Scum

This is so wrong on so many fronts, but any man who hits any woman is lower than pond life and if that woman is a Police officer then it makes it even worse.
Why was the number plate missing? and why was she attacked with such venom? We can only hope that she prevented a bigger crime from taking place or why would the scum that did this be so violent over something so trivial.
I hope the WPC involved is back on patrol very soon because she is obviously brave and is willing to protect and serve.

    Single Patrols

This is society. Police should patrol in pairs so if one gets into trouble the other can call for help. Lone officers are effectively sitting ducks.

    What a shame

Those are the lowest of the low. Two men attacking a police officer who is doing her job. Shame on them, I hope they have been arrested and locked up. What did she do wrong? The government needs to step up and protect our Emergency teams: Police, Ambulance, Fire and others.

    Lone patrolling

Sounds like this officer was patrolling alone, it is too dangerous for officers to operate alone, money should not come into it officer safety should be paramount. Hopefully the injured officer will make a quick recovery.

    Time for zero tolerance

The days of people respecting police and the difficult job they have to do are disappearing fast. This is an example of why police should be armed with tasers and capsicum spray. I know that police were used to dealing with most matters out on the roads unarmed, and it is a credit to the general population over the years that the "culture" has, in general, been one of respect for police. But times have changed, and police are not "punching bags" for offenders, and they should be armed with tasers as soon as possible. If people chose to do the right thing, the tasers would not have to be used.
