Revving up for Wheelie Bin Grand Prix

Wheelie bin racing

Forget Silverstone this weekend, there's only one grand prix worth watching ...and it's bound to be rubbish!

Bin boys and girls will be on the grid for this year’s Three Horseshoes Wheelie Bin Grand Prix tomorrow.

A road will be closed at Hernhill from noon, and the flag will go down on the first pair of race-honed bins at about 1pm.

While there will be teams going for the fastest time ever over the quarter-mile course, there are also classes for the best designs, which in the past have featured amazingly detailed bin-based models of a Spitfire, German U-boat, The Titanic and an English Electric Lightning.

There will be an outside beer tent and barbecue and music after the racing from the Boughton Blues Connection.

This year's race is in aid of Help for Heroes.
