Crowds flock to Dover for England match

Video: Crowds enjoy the football action on Saturday

Hundreds of football fans crowded into Dover's Market Square on Saturday night to watch England's first World Cup match on the Big Screen.

Extra police were on duty and security guards were also placed around the square to prevent any trouble.

The evening had been a victory for campaigners who protested at the decision not to show any live football matches on the screen. The Programming Board changed its mind, and is allowing all England's games, through to the Quarter Finals, to be shown, if they make it that far.

Alcohol was banned in some areas of the square, and drinkers from nearby pubs were kept in a confined area.

The fans saw England draw 1-1 with America.
