Video: World Cup beer brewed in Kent

Brewing takes place for special World Cup beer

Shepherd Neame has entered the spirit of the World Cup with a new brew to toast England to glory in South Africa.

Available both on cask and bottled, it is called 4-4-2, reflecting the likely team formation, and its logo also features the flag of St George and the words "the ten hop beer with a kick".

As its name suggests it is a blend of ten hops and has a strength of four per cent ABV.

Bottles are also available in Lidl.

Brewery senior brewer Stewart Main said: "We wanted to come up with something special for the World Cup to show our support for England and to show what we can do as England's oldest brewer."

"Balancing 10 hops in this way represented a challenge but we think we have produced an excellent beer with great flavours."
