Police investigation into Ramsgate buggy snatch

Police. Library imageAn investigation is under way in Ramsgate following reports a teenage boy snatched a five-month-old baby in a buggy.

Kent Police have only just released details about the incident, which happened in Pysons Road, close to the Booker Cash and Carry store, between 2.15pm and 2.45pm on Wednesday, January 27.

A 16-year-old mum from Broadstairs was pushing her son in the pram when she was approached by a 16-year-old boy who she knew.

The youngster ran off with the pushchair along Pysons Road before he was challenged by a man who was able to return the baby to his mother.

Police are now keen to talk to the passer-by, who is described as white, tall and in his thirties.

DC Katrina Whitehead from Margate police station said: "This may have been a prank but we need some more information and we'd really like to speak to this man, as it’s likely he can provide us with some further details."

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Whitehead on 01843 222072 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

    Why the Wait

Why has it taken the police so long to release the details of this incident? Surely it would be in everyones best interests to release that details as soon as possible so to catch this mindless idiot. Whether it was a prank or not I can't imagine what the mother went through.
