Robster is correct to 1% only, Germany & France do use the railways more than the UK. It is called a Kombi-Tran Trailer. The problem of course is that the Kombi Trailer yes it is a trailer is carried to and from the train by yes...... a truck. In Germany it is a specially converted trailer, until trains are made that take freight to the doors of the locations then good old fashioned trucks will always be required.
Keep up the good work LGV's.

unbelievable comments. facts are, an ACCIDENT has happened, some poor guy has been hurt. I for one, hope he is OK, and wish him and his family all the best. Regardless of fault and blame in any accident, it is always horrible, especially when somebody is injured, and i think some people on here should be a bit more sensitive. Everyone has family, who have to struggle with the consequences of any accident, whether minor or major, so please, keep your silly windups to less serious content

Oh and for your information I do hold a hgv licence....

Now I'm not going to argue anymore, because after all, this started with 1 ignorant man presuming the poor lorry driver who received serious injuries was at fault, maybe he was, maybe he wasn't but don't we all make mistakes? And who is he to dictate who should n shouldn't be on the road?!

All this argument about truck drivers or car drivers being the worst is silly and unneccesary. A few years ago the government made it compulsory for all idiots to drive BMWs, so all we need to do is establish whether the vehicle involved was a BMW and voila, we have the answer.

How pathetic Linguist, grow up haha, do u really have to be so childish to have to question me being a woman?! 1stly I do not have to justify myself to u and 2ndly why would u even say "we only have your word on that!" What is that supposed to mean?!?,

I've been brought up around lorries, my dad is a haulage driver and my husband is a fuel tanker driver who delivers fuel to garages ect so people can fill up their cars (without them how would u run your car?), fill your machines, tractors ect which all makes the world go round!
I agree totally with annoyed it's a a highly skilled profession which 90% of car drivers couldn't do.

To K and D I hope your brother/ mate is doing well and recovering as I know all to well how hard and devastating it is to be the family of someone involved in a tragic accident, (yes involving a lorry n PROVEN to be the fault of someone else and NOT the lorry driver!)
My thoughts are with u, your family and his wife n 2 kids x

Just a point to all of you out there that think it is always lorries that cause accidents. It is NOT. I have seen for myself some stupid incidents from drivers who cut up lorries when they suddenly decide that they want to exit a motorway or even an A road. This is done at some considerable speed and at the last minute, cutting up the lorry who has no option but to brake suddenly or take avoiding action. Most of these lorries are 32 tonne or more, and their braking distance is far longer than the average car. If they have a 44ft trailer behind them then there is the possibility that they will jackknife, so the lorry driver has to think quickly and safely to avoid a possible accident. So you moronic drivers out there THINK BEFORE YOU CUT UP A LORRY!!! I work in the haulage industry and have heard some horror stories and am amazed that there aren't more accidents. So before you start blaming lorry drivers, have a look at your own driving instead.

Accident caused by a too high speed of approach to roundabout. It's IMPOSSIBLE at low speed.
    Today's Grammar Lesson
"Yes no one likes.." should be "NO, no one likes.."(mixture of negative and affirmative: bad syntax) Keep-on trucking.

What can you say about a chap like that. The use of the word "Truckers" is his first error. "Truckers" are proffesional drivers with one of the hardest and most thankless jobs around.

What a total idiot of the highest order. Most "Truckers" would love the opportunity of being able to do 60mph, in actual fact any truck over 12 tonnes gross weight is limited to 56mph whcih is calibrated.

They were all thundering past you because your car speedo is inaccurate. You, as someone else commented below are the sort of Numbskull who causes these "Truckers" to crash through careless and inconsiderate driving.

Do yourself a favour and get your provisional HGV, go to a driving school and do an hours lesson. Then we'll see what you think about "Truckers".

I am so angry as I write I may put something that will get reported as abuse so will stop now.

I'm sure most people & just about every haulage company & lorry driver will find your stupid comments to be highly offensive.
Whenever there is an accident involving a lorry, you blame the driver, so you are saying that all car drivers are perfect?? A shocking display or pure arrogance.

OMG!!!!! Robster u are obviously yet ANOTHER weekend driver who hasn't got a clue... It's people like you that cause accidents involving lorries by driving up the side of them then have the cheek to moan!!! Yes there are some lorry drivers which drive too fast on 30mph roads I agree but at least double that for normal car drivers!!
Yes no one likes to be behind a lorry but do you have any idea what it's like for a lorry driver when some stupid car driver pulls out on him just because they don't want to sit behind "a lorry"? U go down 1 gear maybe 2, try being a lorry driver!!

    Ignorance, pure ignorance!!!

To all you lorry drivers.... Well done, if it wasn't for u people like Robster wouldn't get their pens delivered!

Yet another truck accident. So many every day. 60 MPH on Motorways and 40 MPH on side roads.
You see, truckers never obey the basic rules on the roads. They follow too close, go too fast into round-a-bouts, and take ages to overtake, and overtake where it is forbidden.
Trouble is, as long as the Police don't do anything about it, the truckers are free to do as they please.
I still think that we should move more freight by train. No jams, no rude truckers, but, thats a dream only the Germans seem to have had come true.
Trucks are charged a Toll at the border, and are not allowed to use the roads after 6PM Fridays until Sunday midnight, and they are not allowed to overtake during peak travel times - 7 AM to 9 AM, and 4 PM till 7 PM. This not only keeps accidents to a minimum, it keeps the roads and Autobahn's moving.
Tonight, on a 200 mile drive home through rain and misery. I kept to 60 MPH as the visibilty through spray was badly hindered, like thick fog. A few cars overtook, but mostly it was absolutey crazed truckers. Making what should have been a comfortable trip into an absolute nightmare.

    GET TRUCKS OFF THE ROADS!
