A disgraced Conservative council candidate has made a public
apology for calling girls in Thanet "sluts" on Facebook.
Payam Tamiz, who is a candidate in Salmestone ward in Margate,
was forced to resign from his party after postings he made on the
social networking site.
Mr Tamiz said he now wanted to move on and put his "poor
judgement" behind him.
"I understand
my Facebook remarks were inappropriate and unacceptable and I
unreservedly apologise for the offence I have caused."
The comments by the 21-year-old graduate, who is studying to be
a solicitor, are highly offensive to women. One referred to women
as sluts.
Mr Tamiz was also alleged to have been a member of a Facebook
group called "Girls in Thanet... you are all slags, hoes,
brasses and bheads", but he denies this claim.
His postings have now been deleted but it is understood party
chiefs considered them highly insulting and inappropriate.
On his Facebook profile, he stated: "I can come across as blunt
and rude but that's just me!"
Cllr Bob Bayford, Conservative leader of Thanet council, said:
"Obviously, we are very disappointed, shocked and surprised.
"We believe this to be totally unacceptable and the outcome is
the only one possible."

Mr Bayford said he had spoken to Mr Tamiz after being told of
the comments but had left it for him to decide how to respond.
Labour party spokeswoman Iris Johnston said: "It is unfortunate
that it appears to have taken media interest to force him to
resign. Some of the comments he posted go back to 2009.
"This was clearly unacceptable and he should have been properly
vetted."
Mr Tamiz will remain a candidate as electoral law means his name
cannot now be withdrawn from the ballot paper.
Only last week, he was photographed with Conservative party
chairman Baroness Warsi ahead of the election on May 5.
