A woman is in a stable condition in hospital today after
witnesses reported her ablaze outside flats.
She was airlifted to hospital yesterday with serious burns
following the blaze at a flat in Rusthall, near Tunbridge
Wells.
Kent Police said she is now stable in the specialist burns unit
in East Grinsted.
Officers were called to the three-storey building in
Gladstone Road at about 3pm on Monday.
Witnesses reported the woman being on fire outside the
block.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene before taken to
hospital for her burns, which were believed to be
life-threatening.
A Kent Police spokesman said the cause of the blaze, in a
first-floor flat, is not yet known.
An air ambulance was spotted landing in Rusthall Common
near the scene.
Two fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze,
which was out by about 3.30pm.
