Rescue operation for lost man

A rescue operation in East Kent got underway last night after a man became lost while he was walking from Sandwich to Ramsgate via Pegwell Bay.

The man who's in his 60s got stuck when he realised he couldn't get across the River Stour.

He was rescued by a police helicopter which was assisted by Dover Coastguard

I remember cycling with a friend a few years back and came across the river. Instead of turning back (as we did) I wish we'd got a helicopter to help!
What a waste of taxpayers' money!
