Crime falls in Kent

Overall crime in
Kent is down, with big falls in the number of robberies, burglaries
and sexual offences committed in the county.
New figures released this
morning show 103,130 crimes were reported to police between
September 2010 and September 2011 – down 4% on the previous 12
months, in line with the national average.
It means just six in every 100
people fell victim to crime last year.
Reports of robberies in Kent
fell by 15% to 792, while the number of household burglaries was
down 14% to 4,664.
Sexual offences, including rape,
exploitation and indecent exposure, were down by 13%, with 1,323
offences reported to police last year.
The only increases were in the
number of fraud and forgery offences (up 11% to 4,395) and thefts
(up 4% to 29,457).
