Video: Nina Babington-Browne quizzes Gordon Brown

Nina-Babington-Browne puts Gordon Brown under the spotlight over Afghanistan

The mother of a soldier who died while serving in Afghanistan thanked Gordon Brown for a letter of condolence he had sent her.

Nina Babington-Browne's, whose son Capt Ben Babington-Browne died in July following a helicopter accident in Zabul province, had a private meeting with the Prime Minister before the KM Group's exclusive question and answer session began.

She was the first member of the audience to quiz him and started by telling him the handwritten letter, signed by Mr Brown and his wife Sarah, was "kind and thoughtful".

Mr Brown’s appearance in Maidstone came as The Sun was running critical stories about spelling mistakes in a letter sent to another grieving mother, Jacqui Janes.

But Mrs Babington Browne did take the opportunity to ask testing questions of Mr Brown - watch our video to see her put him under the spotlight and hear her reaction.
