"Kent, I love it," declared media entrepreneur Geoff Miles after
being honoured for his outstanding contribution to the county’s
business community.
Mr Miles, joint owner of Maidstone Studios and an ambassador for
the county, said it was an emotional night for him when the final
accolade in the inaugural Kent Excellence in Business Awards
(KEiBA) was announced.
Five hundred guests attended the black-tie gala dinner in a huge
marquee on the lawns of Leeds Castle.
Air conditioning units were deployed on a sweltering night that
sizzled with tension and drama as the results were revealed.
Mr Miles was one of 12 winners who took away a handsome glass
trophy crafted by Maidstone artist Annie Ross.
The former BBC television producer of hit shows like Top of the
Pops and The Generation Game has transformed the former TVS studios
into a media beacon.
But the man who spent his early life in Hythe and now lives in
Sandgate is also involved in the wider economic scene, and promotes
the county wherever he goes.
"Kent is a fabulous county with great people," he said. "Kent –
I love it."
The KEiBA awards were run jointly by Kent County Council and the
KM Group.
