Woman and horse due in Dover at start of four-year expedition

Watch out for an unusual sight in Dover this weekend as a woman and her piebald pony arrive in the town at the start of an epic journey, riding from London to Tokyo.

Becky Sampson and Bertie’s Quest are taking part in Expedition Equus to raise money for the charity SOS Children and are due in the town on Easter Sunday and will spend two nights at stables owned by international horse transporters Equine Travel Agency at West Hougham, preparing to catch a ferry to France.

The company is providing the Channel crossing for Becky, free of charge, as part of its support for her expedition.

The ride will span two continents, 15 countries and cover more than 15,000 kilometres and Becky expects the journey will take approximately four years.

She hopes to raise at least £15,000.
