Gillingham manager Mark Stimson is
confident of holding on to leading scorer Simeon Jackson.
Jackson got the only goal of the game as
Gillingham beat Shrewsbury 1-0 in the League 2 play-off final at
Wembley on Saturday.
His form this season, and knack of
scoring in front of the live television cameras, has seen him
linked with higher-level clubs, but the Gills boss says there have
not been any enquiries for him.
“I have not had one phone call about the lad,”
he said. “I am sure managers above have watched him and looked at
him and thought if he is going to cost us that much is he ready to
go into League 1 or the Championship?
“If I am honest, a few managers might say he
needs another year, so I am quite confident we’ll keep him. I hope
we can because he can be a big player for us next year.”
