Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler felt his side would have
easily beaten Morecambe had they been more ruthless in front of
goal.
Missed opportunities meant the Gills were only able to take a
point away from their League 2 clash.
Hessenthaler said: “We deserved to win the game with the
opportunities we had. On another day we could have won the game
four or five one.
“It’s such a frustrating game, football, sometimes and I can’t
believe it. The players were down afterwards because we know we
should have won the game.
“Lance Cronin’s kit was not even dirty and he only had one shot
to save. He had to pick the ball out of the net from one header and
they have a header over the bar.”
Gills were backed by around 200 fans and Hessenthaler praised
them for their support.
“The fans were outstanding again,” he said. “It’s a long way to
go and there were a lot who had made the journey.
“I was just pleased for them that we got a goal and they will
have gone away really disappointed.
"If they had gone all the way back to Kent and not got anything
it would have been a travesty.”
