Danny Hunt beats Kevin Fewell from the spot
as Faversham beat Whitstable 1-0 at the Belmont
Newly-promoted Faversham Town are among the
Ryman League Division 1 South frontrunners after a derby win
against Whitstable Town on Bank Holiday Monday
afternoon.
The Lilywhites followed up their 2-0 FA Cup win over Pagham on
Saturday with a 1-0 derby victory over the Oystermen at the Belmont
courtesy of Danny Hunt's 24th minute penalty.
Justin Luchford's side have begun their campaign with two wins
and a draw from their first three games while their rivals have now
lost their opening three games, only scoring once.
They did however progress in the FA Cup on Saturday with a 3-0
win over Croydon.
Beckenham Town joined them in the next round after a 3-2 win at
Thamesmead Town but Sittingbourne
crashed out 1-0 at home to Andover and Chatham
Town went out 2-1 at Chertsey Town.
Ramsgate were held 1-1 at home by Godalming
Town and replay on Tuesday night while Tunbridge Wells and Dulwich
Hamlet must also do it again after a 3-3 draw while VCD
Athletic and Eastbourne Town drew 1-1 and will also face a
replay.
