James Tredwell was forced to play second fiddle to rival
Adil Rashid of Yorkshire as England Lions beat England by five
wickets off the last ball in the senior side’s opening Twenty20
match of their tour to the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
The Kent off-spinner took 0-25 in three overs while Rashid,
overlooked for the winter trip to Bangladesh, claimed 3-22 in his
four overs as the England senior side made 157-6, after Paul
Collingwood won the toss and chose to bat.
Joe Denly opened the innings with Jonathan Trott, one of his
main rivals for the openers role made only four.
Tredwell was at the non-striker's end as the Lions sneaked home
for the fourth win in five games on the trip.
Michael Lumb of Hampshire hit successive fours in an unbeaten
58, after retiring hurt earlier.
Denly picked up a catch to dismiss former Kent all-rounder Peter
Trego, and conceded eight runs off his solitary over.
