James Tredwell's stock
continues to rise after he was named in the 15-man England Lions
squad for the trip to the United Arab Emirates next month.
The 27-year-old uncapped Kent
off-spinner will be available for the first four Twenty20 matches
in Sharjah, before joining the senior one-day squad for the trip to
Bangladesh in March, with the rest of the party being announced
following the Fourth Test against South Africa which starts in
Johannesburg on Thursday.
Tredwell was orginally called up as
cover for Graeme Swann for the one-day series, then joined with the
England Performance squad in Pretoria before re-joining the Test
squad the week before Christmas, as doubts continued about the
Nottinghamshire man’s fitness.
Former Kent team-mates Michael
Carberry (Hampshire) and Peter Trego (Somerset) are also in the
Lions squad, but there is no place for Rob Key, Joe Denly or Amjad
Khan.
