Kent Spitfires recorded their fifth win of the Friends Provident
t20 campaign with a six-wicket win over Glamorgan on Sunday.
An unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 58 between Geraint Jones (22)
and Azhar Mahmood (30) saw the hosts move off the bottom of the
South Group with two games to go.
Batting first after winning the toss, Glamorgan made 126-6 from
their 20 overs with Malinga Bandara taking 3-15.
Kent lost opener James Hockley to the third ball of the reply
before Martin van Jaarsveld (25) and Joe Denly (36) put on a
second-wicket stand of 44.
Mahmood (pictured), promoted to bat No.4, added 28 with Denly
before the opener was bowled by Robert Croft who took 3-19.
Darren Stevens was stumped for 10 to make it 87-4 before Jones
teamed up with Mahmood to see the Spitfires home with five balls to
spare.
Spitfires' last two games are against Glamorgan in Cardiff on
Friday and Somerset in Taunton on Sunday.
Defeat to Essex on Friday meant they cannot now qualify for the
knockout stages of the competition.
