Welling manager Jamie Day has revealed the three remaining
players that he wants to add to his squad.
Finances will dictate his final decision but Day wants to keep
Femi Omogbehin, Anthony Achempong and Jordan Johnson at Park View
Road.
The Wings boss already has a 15-man squad signed up and is
pushing his budget to the limit despite a pre-season campaign which
has seen around 5,000 fans watch home friendlies with Charlton,
Millwall and an Arsenal XI.
Day (pictured) said: "I'd like to get Femi, Anthony and
Jordan if I can. If I can keep them it would give me an 18-man
squad and I'll be happy with that.
"We need to look at it but we're right on the budget so it may
be that I can only keep one or two of them.
"I'll know within the next week what is happening budget-wise.
It would be disappointing (if they can't all stay) but there is not
a lot I can do."
Day is also keen to keep keeper John Whitehouse, who played
against Arsenal, but knows that Cray Wanderers are also interested
in signing him.
The Wings boss is delighted with how his squad are shaping up
with less than three weeks until their season opener against
Hampton & Richmond on August 14 at Park View Road.
"I'm really pleased," he added. "We're looking sharper with
every game, a lot of the players have had 90 minutes now and most
have had 60 minutes.
"Attacking-wise, we look decent and have created a lot of
chances. Defensively, we gave away sloppy goals against Charlton
and Millwall but we did well against Arsenal."
Welling travel to Erith Town on Wednesday night and Day is not
expecting a drop in standards.
"We've got Erith Town and that will be totally different," he
said. "But we've got to play like we did against the three
professional sides."
Welling's friendly at Ashford on August 3 has been postponed and
Day is hoping to re-arrange new opposition for that midweek.
