Welling manager Jamie Day wants to sign Dartford defender Jamie Coyle

Welling manager Jamie Day has revealed he is close to signing defender Jamie Coyle from Dartford.

Coyle, pictured, has yet to agree a new deal at Princes Park and was expected to move to Bromley, but Day has stepped in and is hoping to tie up a deal at the start of next week.

Day said: "I've offfered Jamie a deal and hopefully he'll be coming in on Monday or Tuesday to sign a contract.

"He is a decent player who will be taking a pay cut to join us.

"He can fill either the right-back or centre-half spots and I'm sure he will prove a good addition for us."

Day is also believed to be in talks with a midfielder who played in Blue Square South last season, although he is keeping his identity close to his chest.

"I'd like to think we'd be able to bring him to the club but there are other teams chasing him so we may need to be patient," said Day.

The Wings boss did confirm that he had held productive talks with Andy Sambrook and is close to agreeing a new deal for the utility man, with the player taking a wage cut on his terms from last season at Park View Road.
