Gillingham captain Barry Fuller out for at least four weeks

Gillingham captain Barry Fuller will be sidelined for at least a month.

Fuller (pictured) visited a specialist on Friday to assess the arm that he broke during Gillingham’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient three days before.

The diagnosis has ruled out the right-back for four to six weeks.

"It’s not good news," said manager Mark Stimson. "After four weeks he may get a light cast on it but that depends on how it is healing.

"He should possibly come back before the end of the season."

Stimson saw on Saturday, in the 2-0 League 1 defeat at Carlisle, just how big a loss Fuller will be.

"It’s a hard one to fill because I don’t think people realise how good he has been this year," said the Gills boss.

"It’s a massive loss but we can’t do anything about it and we have to get on with it. We’ll see if people can step in and take on that challenge and if they are half as good as him that would be enough."
